From lilting background music to great dance music, Jason Roseman and Tropical Gems can bring the flavor of the Caribbean to any venue. With a repertoire ranging from Ave Maria to Brown Eyed Girl, Tropical Gems can take almost any song and make it an island favorite. Songs you'd expect to hear like Brazil, Hot,Hot,Hot and Girl from Ipanema are complimented by Fly Me to the Moon , Imagine, and Sir Duke, songs not usually in the steel drum genre!
Born on the beautiful twin island republic of Trinidad and Tobago, Jason Roseman, is a second generation steelpan tuner who started performing at age eight. He has traveled extensively, including time spent teaching steelpans at secondary schools both in his native Trinidad and in England.
As a performer, Jason has graced the stage with the Ray Kennedy Entertainers, Cassav, and Celia Cruz, to name a few. As a tuner, Jason has built steelpan instruments for individuals and educational institutions in the Caribbean, United States, and Europe. Living in the United States since 1997, he continues to promote his steelpan art form every opportunity he gets.

Multiple guests and family complimented the band's exceptional performance. We were thoroughly impressed with the Tropical Gems’ professionalism and skill as musicians, and they created a warm and joyful environment on a cold and rainy day. We our so thankful for their efforts and participation and can’t wait to hear them play again soon. Mr. and Mrs. Tim Cellar Jamestown, RI 3/5/2005
