Manteca Beat has a sound which is both familiar and fresh. Led by Paul Klemperer’s soulful sax, the group explores the best in classic R&B, blues and latin music, with a cool jazzy edge. Original songs and arrangements give some extra spice to the recipe.“This band is about having fun. We start with what audiences know and then take them someplace new, so when they go home they feel like they have really been somewhere."
Drawing on 35 years of playing experience, Paul Klemperer formed Manteca Beat to get back to musical roots. "I like to find the heart of a song, my saxophone style is influenced as much by the blues as jazz," he explains. "To me, music is less about genre then about tone, energy and expression. That's the focus of this band. That's what makes this music special."
