Funny, funky, bluesy, real. James "Super Chikan" Johnson is a master roots musician and showman, straight out of the birthplace of the Blues - Mississippi Delta. Wielding his unique "chikan-tars," which he makes himself out of gas cans, Chikan has taken his powerful, witty songs and stories around the world, playing everything from backyard fish fries to major festivals in Europe.
This former field hand and truck driver has released three acclaimed albums and won five Living Blues Awards as well as the Governor's Award for Excellence in the Arts in Mississippi. Beloved by fans of all musical genres, this self-taught songwriter, musician, painter, craftsman, and, philosopher continues to create compelling songs, great stories, and jokes bad enough to make anyone wince. A favorite of kids and adults, Chikan, like the spelling of his name, is unique.
