Arena Grand Opening - 09/06/04
Resource Entertainment Group was proud to provide entertainment, event planning, and event production for five grand opening events for the FedExForum and the Memphis Grizzlies. From the staff graudation party, to the VIP party, to the public Open House that attracted 30,000 Mid-Southerners, the REG and Grizzlies teams worked together to present the new arena to the public.
REG used great local talent for the grand opening celebrations, including The Dempseys, Elmo & the Shades, Ms. Ruby Wilson, The After Dark Band, and The Venus Mission.
Eschewing the traditional ribbon-cutting, REG devised the world's largest FedEx box, which opened to reveal a variety of entertainers and athletes who represented the activities that will occur within the arena. The box-opening stunt received national media attention and delighted the thousands of people assembled on the plaza to tour the facility.
